Asia Argento and Ashton Whitty

Asia Argento was born in Rome, Italy, into an extended family of actors and filmmakers, both occupations which she's taken up. Sogni e bisogni, directed by Sergio Citti and starring Asia Argento, at nine was her first film. She played the lead in the film as Cristina Comencini in her first film Zoo in 1988. Michele Soavi directed The Church 1989. Red Wood Pigeon, directed by Moretti in 1989, featured her role in the role of Nanni Moretti's daughter. The documentary she made about her dad was followed by Abel/Asia (1998), a film that was awarded a prize in the Rome Film Festival and was each produced between 1996 and 1998. Asia began directing her first feature-length film in 1999, with Scarlet Diva (2000). The film also featured her as the principal performer, as well as the creator of the script.
